Day Nineteen: Something You Regret

Today's "30 Days of Me" entry couldn't have come at a better time.  Like most people I've purchased some clothes that I regret for size or style reasons, but no worries there is a solution!  It's called buffalo exchange (check it out, there are locations all over the US)!  I went there for the first time this morning and walked out with $25 cash for some of my old clothes that I don't wear anymore.
Here's how it works...
You bring your unwanted clothing and accessories into the store (no appointment needed) and they will pick the items they want to buy from you.  They are kinda picky about what they take, they only like to take in season items, things that are in style, and they will not take anything that is too warn in.  After they are done you can either have 50% of the amount back in store credit (and since they are selective, they do have some cool stuff) or you can get 30% back in cash (when I say "back" I mean the amount they will be selling the items for).
I was a little disappointed with some of the items that they didn't take from me, but overall it was a great experience, and I will be visiting again for another future trades.  I have been meaning to go to a consignment store, but it always seemed like a lot of hassle to set up an appointment, get an account at the store, and then WAIT till someone buys your things to get your money.  Another great thing is that the Buffalo Exchange has a donation bin right there at the store so anything they don't take, you can donate right there (my location also happens to be close to a goodwill).

A Few Days

Day Sixteen:  First Kiss
One of the reasons I decided to make today's entry into several day's worth of "30 Days of Me" was because my first kiss is one of the few things I don't like to share with people.  Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware that the few people that read this already know about my first kiss, but still it's a memory I'd rather not blog about.

Day Seventeen:  Favorite Memory
It's hard to pick one memory to call my favorite, but one memory that I hold dear is from several years ago.  I still remember when my friend Dani invited me (along with several other friends) up to her parent's condo in Lake George, NY.  Since then I've made several trips to the condo, but for some reason the first few visits are the most special.  We drank lots of Mike's Hard Lemonade, played beer pong, hung out in the village, and lots of other fun.

Reflecting Pool in Boston

Day Eighteen:  Favorite Birthday
One of my birthday's that comes to mind is my nineteenth birthday, it was also the first birthday that I celebrated in Boston.  A group of my friends from school took me to see a scary movie, then we went to Wendy's for dinner, and then we ended the night with champagne and Will & Grace.  Also for that birthday, Dani and I got together and hung out around Boston, and she treated me to dinner at Wendy's (it's my favorite fast food... can't you tell?!?!), then we ended the night by enjoying some Cheesecake Factory cheesecake at the reflecting pool.  The reflecting pool is one of my favorite places in Boston because it's a great place to people watch and there is always a nice quiet place to sit and catch up with friends.

Day Fifteen: My Dreams

My life dream is to travel to Sydney, Australia.  There are so many things about Sydney that fascinate me.   The people, the architecture, and the beaches are all famously amazing.  When I travel there the number one thing on my "must do" list is to climb the Sydney bridge.  No worries this is totally legal.  You actually pay to do it, they tie you to the bridge so there is no chance to fall, and there are stairs that take you to the top.
Of course like everyone, I have a lot of other dreams, or things I want to accomplish in my life but traveling to Sydney remains a dream of mine that I've had for as long as I can remember.

Day Fourteen: What I Wore Today

Today was my friend Sarah's wedding.  It was a beautiful wedding!  My friend Kyle tagged along with me as my plus one, and I think we look pretty darn good together (we like to dress in outfits that make us look good next to each other whenever we go out).
I wore a BCBG dress that I found on sale at Lord & Taylor's (I was actually shopping with the bride at the time).  I paired the dress with some silver bangles and (although now pictured here) dark brown peek-a-boo toe shoes.  I also curled my hair (which ended up taking FOREVER and we JUST made it in time because I took so long to get ready).
Kyle looks great in his "autumnal outfit".  He paired a tan pair of pants with a chocolate brown shirt and a striped tie.  Together we looked perfect for a NH outdoor wedding, and we had a great time too!

Day Twelve: What's In My Bag

This is an interesting entry because I just recently got home from a long trip away, which means my bag is full of all sorts of last minute "toss in my bag items".
I unloaded my large brown leather Gucci (my favorite "fall back" bag, and I found...
Chanel sunglasses in the case, calendar, trident white gum, my new camera (which of course is not in the photo since I used it to take the picture), wallet, 3 pens (all blue, of course), change purse, I Pod charger, a paper with places I wanted to check out while I was in NY, heart shaped mirror, chapstick, MAC "Hot Gossip" lipstick, Vicky's Beauty Rush "I Want Candy" Lip Gloss, Aerie colored lip gloss, pomegranate hand cream, hand sanitizer, and
receipts from the following:
Costco (new camera), Eataly (phenomenal dinner with Casey), Target (candy before heading into the movies (ps- go see "The Town", it was so good), eretz (my new boots), metropark (2 new shirts for going out), quick check (gas).

Day Eleven – My Siblings

I am the youngest of three children.  My two older brothers are Bill and Mike.  They have always been there for me when I need them and I love them dearly.

The oldest of the crew is Bill.  He lives with his wife Sarah and daughter Abby in their new home in Indiana.  He works in sports communication and coaches a few teams on the side.  Sports are his passion, he has always loved all sports but college football is his favorite.  Over the years he played several different sports including wrestling, football and, lacrosse.

Mike is the middle child and lives in Pennsylvania with his wife Stacey and his kids Owen and Ben.  He also works in communication (he is great at dealing with people).  He is an amazing cook and still makes time to go out and have fun with his friends.  I'm always amazed at all the different things he does, and how well he does all of them.  Mike and I have always been really close and we share similar views (I often say that he is the male version of me, and that I am the female version of him).

Day Nine: Beliefs & (Let's Pretend It's Day Ten): What I Wore Today

What I Wore Today

So, when I was blogging yesterday I thought that "What I Wore Today" was today's entry not tomorrow's, but since I picked out a special outfit just for the entry I'm doing double "30 Days of Me" entries.

Beliefs:
My biggest belief is to live life to the fullest and to be true to yourself.
Personally, I don't belief in organized religion.  I come from a strong catholic family, but although I don't have any problems with the bible itself, I disagree with many of the catholic church views (abortion, same sex marriage, divorce, and so on).

What I Wore Today:
As you can see from my outfit, fall is my favorite season.
I wore my not too dark and not too light jeans,
with a ribbed gray tank, with an ivory sweater jacket,
and scrunchy brown boots.
Then I topped off the outfit with a silver & wood beaded necklace, and some bangles.

YAY for fall fashion!

Day Eight: A Moment

Moments are the little things that create your life.
The sad thing about moments is that they pass quickly, but the great thing is that you remember them forever.

There are romantic moments:  Like the first time you kiss someone, and you know they are going to be someone special.

There are the drunk moments:  Like when you repeat the same phase a million times while lying on your friend's floor.

There are funny moments:  Like when you are at work and all of a sudden one of your co-workers runs in and hits you with a snowball.

There are friend moments:  Like when you are sick and your friends take care of you.

There are scary moments:  Like when you get pulled over by the cops.

and much, MUCH, more.... good or bad, moments are the things that make your life!

Day Seven: Best Friends

I have been so lucky in my life to be surrounded by amazing people.

When I was in high school I met a great group of friends, and I never realized it at the time, but it turns out they are some of the greatest friends I will ever have in my life.
I met Dani when I first moved to NJ and we shared a bus and a math class.
I remember getting to know Nikki via a notebook worth of notes in study hall.
Ashley and I were both in the high school color guard.
Megan and I also shared some very memorable study hall moments.
Katie was also on the same bus route as myself and Dani.

When I went to college I continued to meet lots of new friends.  One in particular, I knew would be a friend for life.
I met Casey when we sat next to each other in color theory class, and we became friends right away.  We went on to live together for several years and continue  to be close friends.

Day Six: Your Day (Yesterday)

Yesterday's "30 Days of Me" was to tell you about my day, so I thought I should write it at the end of the day, but I did was most people do at the end of the day, I fell asleep.  So, here is my yesterday...

My DVD viewing yesterday including finishing up season four of Grey's Anatomy, and the beginning of season five.  Then once the evening hit, the great night of tv hit as well, but wait... my cable didn't seem to be working.  Instead of sitting on hold on the phone, I chatted online with a service rep who was a lot of help, it was so much faster and easier then trying to call and get customer service on the phone.  The good thing was I got it fixed before all my shows came on.
The VMA's were a huge disappointment this year.  I think MTV needs to stop trying to have the VMA's in LA.  They try to do it in LA every few years, and every time it is in LA the show stinks.
The season finale of Entourage was the big hit of the night.  I can't wait to find out what's going to happen next season!

Day Five: Definition of loveDay

Am I the only person who has never ever heard of loveDay?
What in the heck is "30 Days of Me" trying to ask me?
Do they mean Valentine's Day?
Because Valentine's Day is February 14th.  It is a day in which single people go to work, and tend to work overtime while non-single people make last minute attempts to be romantic.  Personally, I send cards out to my friends, I try to do so for lots of the holidays.

Friday, September 10

Day Four: What I Ate Today

Since it's about midnight, here's what I ate today.  This is an interesting "30 Days of Me" post because due to the recovery of my surgery I've been eating differently and trying to slowly introduce new foods into my diet.

- 1 bowl of Reese's Puffs cereal with vanilla soy milk
- 1 Red Baron Singles cheese pizza
- turkey, roast beef, and swiss sandwich
- chips & salsa
...the salsa did not sit well with my new tummy, note to self, I'm not ready for salsa
- 3 sugar cookies
- cheesestick
- cup of three cheese hamburger helper

So today I learned that I still have to keep it soft when it to food, AKA:  I'm not ready for veggies yet, not even soft veggies in salsa.

Day Three/Four: My Parents

*For some crazy reason my blogger account didn't like me yesterday, and wouldn't let me sign in, so here is yesterday's "30 days of me" post, "My parents"...

My parents are Bill & Carol, they started dating when my dad was in college, and first met when they were in the same third grade class.  (That's right third grade, and I'm 25 and single).  They had a simple summer wedding (really simple, the reception was at the knights of columbus).

My mother, Carol was an excellent stay at home mom, she was (and still is) always there for us when we need her.  She did have a few different part time jobs over the years, and when she was young she had jobs at a dress factory and as a telephone operator.  One of my mom's greatest talents that she passed onto me, is her baking and cooking ability.  She has an amazing story, growing up as a coal miner's daughter and ending up being a homemaker, of a very beautiful home.

My father, Bill works as an attorney, and has always worked really hard to provide for his family.  We always say that Thomas' are some of the hardest working people you'll ever meet.  His job included lots of traveling both domestically and internationally (including London, Sweden, India, and China).  Without question, my dad's favorite hobby is reading.  He always says that he hopes is eyesight is always good enough to read (oddly enough, all three of his children HATE to read).  His favorite books are books about the Civil War, Gettysburg in particular.

Now that my parents are empty nesters, they love traveling during their free time.  They have done road trips all over the US, and love going on cruises.  But without question their favorite "getting old" thing is being grandparents!  If they have so much as one day with no plans, they will be doing something with their grandkids.

Wednesday, September 8

Day Two: First Love

The ultimate single lady, Carrie Bradshaw

I'm pretty much known by every group one of my groups of friends as "the single girl".  Lots of people tell me that I'm not in relationships often because I'm too picky.  But, I think people should be picky about who they get into a relationship with because you spend a lot of time with that person, and how are you suppose to develop feelings for someone that you are settling for?

With that all being said, the longest and most serious relationship I ever had was with my ex, Mike (I have a thing for guys named Mike, I've gone out with quite a few of them).  We went out for a year, and although we did fall in love, I fell out of love, and broke up with him.  Although I often get frustrated with being single, and question if it was the right move, I always know that it was.  He was a nice guy, and we were great together, but in the end we just weren't right for each other.

I've met quite a few men over my years, but as I mentioned it takes something really special to catch my eye.  One of the things I like best about being single is that singles get to go out on way more first dates then committed couples do (the reasons are clear).  Even though most of the dates end up being lack luster, there is nothing better then that excited feeling during the day leading up to the date, your mind a flutter with questions... Is he going to be the one?  Is he going to be cute?  Are we going to go out again after this?
And the dates that don't go so well, at least they lead to great stories that my friends always love hearing about!

Day One: Intro

The few people that follow this blog already know me really well, but just in case any new readers want to know a little about me, here's a little introduction to Sue.
I am currently 25 years old and live in my favorite city, Boston.  I graduated from Mount Ida College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in interior design.  While I was in school I started working retail, and found that it came really natural to me.  I am still working in retail now, currently as a manager for Lucky Brand Jeans.
I moved to the Boston area for school (Mount Ida is in Newton, MA) from a small town in New Jersey called Sparta.  I lived in Sparta for 5 years, and my parents still live there.  I spent the majority of my childhood years in upstate New York.
I am the youngest of 3 children, and the only girl (yes, I'm a princess).  My two older brothers are Bill (his wife is Sara), and Mike (his wife is Stacey).  Bill lives in the midwest, and Mike lives in Pennsylvania.  The majority of my family lives in Pennsylvania, my family lived there when I was really young.

I think that covers the basics about me, but there is more to come over the next 30 days!

30 Days of Me

Ten On Tuesday (The Two Week Edition)

I've been so busy lately that I didn't have time to submit a "Ten on Tuesday" last week, so this week's ten if full of exciting things from the last TWO weeks... ooo! so exciting!

1.  When I was back home from the hospital my mom took me food shopping.  It isn't often that I have a fridge full of food, but it's great to have.

2.  My mom and also went out shopping (while we were waiting for my car to get fixed) and while we were at H&M I finally got the silver bangles I've been meaning to get, I've already worn them several times.

3.  Leading up to my appointment with the surgeon, I was very nervous.  It was hard to think of anything other then the worst.  Which is why I was happy to have a night relaxing and watching movies (and Jersey Shore) with the boys.

4.  Speaking of my appointment with my surgeon, it went really well.  It might sound odd to a lot of people, but I'm actually pretty relaxed about the whole thing.  Mainly because I have 100% confidence in my doctors, and my surgeon explained everything really well for me, and showed me what the plan was on my actual catscan.

5.  After several canceled "date nights" with my friend Kyle, we finally played catch up over a phenomenal dinner at a North End restaurant.

6.  After dinner, Kyle and I enjoyed red velvet cupcakes from Modern Pastry at the Greenway.  The Greenway is a small park in between the North End and the Faneuil Hall areas of Boston, it was built over the Big Dig for the city as sort of a "We're sorry for all the construction" gift.

7.  I don't get fast food very often, but I treated myself to Wendy's (my favorite).  Wow!  It was great!

8.  I have had my car since 2007, and the air conditioning has never really worked.  I never really cared, since I always drive my car with the sunroof and windows open, but due to the crazy heat we've had this year I finally got around to getting it fixed.  Now, I'm driving cool.

9.  I was out at the laundry mat and this one woman decided to start talking to me.  After she left it made me laugh because, she said to me, "do you do your laundry here every Sunday?", Me?  Do laundry on a weekly basis?".  Everyone that knows me knows that I wait months before doing laundry.

10.  If you haven't seen "Hot Tub Time Machine", you should rent it.  I'm a big 80's fan, so I thought this was great!

Tuesday, August 3

Ten on Tuesday

1.  I got a new pair of dress code approved shoes on sale at aldo this week.  They are cute brown sandals with dark green jewels down the front.  I liked them cause I could wear them with anything, and they weren't too simple or too over done.

2.  My kitchen has been having a little bit of a baking explosion over the past week or so.  Baking always helps me escape everything else going on in my life, and has been a great help with all the work stress I've had this week.

3.  During the baking explosion, I made two batches of yellow buttermilk cupcakes with homemade chocolate frosting.  I decided to treat a few of my favorite businesses around Boston with a "random act of sweetness".  I gave a box of cupcakes to my hair salon, one the the lucky brand stores, mac makeup on newbury, and lester harry's (a baby clothing store my friend works at).  They were all very surprised and grateful to be given a treat for giving such great service.

4.  Sorry to make ANOTHER note about my baking this week... But, I'm happy to say that not everyone can do what I can do.  When I was making my chocolate frosting I followed the recipe (which was a new one) to a T, but it didn't turn out quite right.  Being the baking pro that I am, I was able to fix it, and it turned out AMAZING!

5.  There couldn't have been a more perfect time for a visit from my dear friend Casey.  We spent Friday morning together and got a chance to catch up over breakfast at my favorite eatery "303 Cafe".

6.  There is one good thing about unfortunate things happening in your life, it helps you to realize just how amazing your friends are.  Casey crashed at my place on Friday night, and jumped up faster then lighting on Saturday morning when I woke her up bellied over in pain, she not only drove me to the hospital, but sat bedside with me while I was being cared for.

7.  I had a nice relaxing Friday night with my friend Sarah M. shopping for things for her wedding.  We were a great shopping team, we shopped the whole mall, checked out our options, and purchased just what we went shopping for, and nothing else.  Sarah got a new bra to wear with her wedding dress (which I had a coupon for) and a pair of Michael Kors shoes to wear to her wedding shower.  I picked up a bargain BCBG dress to wear to her wedding.

8.  When you're bored in the hospital, it's the little things that keep you entertained.  One of the most amusing bits of entertainment I saw when I was in the hospital, was a doctor that would walk by my room, he looked just like Spencer Pratt.

9.  I had a chance to catch up with my friend Sara S. (who I met when in college).  We met up at a place called "The Yard House" in Dedham.  It was a really neat place, they are famous for "the world's largest draft beer selection".  Sara and I haven't seen each other in over a year, so it was great to hear what has been going on in each other's lives.

10.  Extra bonus about my night out with Sara S. is that when we were waiting for our table and went to the bar to order drinks, some guy picked up the tab for our first round!  He was really old (seriously, salt & pepper hair) and had on a gross hawaiian shirt, but hey I'll take the compliment!

Tuesday, July 27

Ten on Tuesday

1.  I know for many people the idea of sitting in a meeting all day is "just another boring day at work", but for me the day long meeting I had to sit through was great.  Any day that I don't have to be on my feet is considered a day off in my book.

2.  After the meeting several of the store managers all went out for drinks.  It was to have a chance for all of us to get together and hang out since we all work so much.

3.  I haven't baked in a long time, so I decided to make chocolate chip cookies for the hell of it.

4.  After I had some disappointment for a man this week, I wasn't feeling the best.  Which anyone that knows me knows that leads to one thing... a kitchen explosion!  So I made yellow buttermilk cupcakes with dark chocolate frosting.

5.  I'd like to use number five this week to wish Happy Birthday to Joshua!

6.  I went to get my IV infusion this week.  When many people hear that I have to go to get a two hour infusion they feel bad, please don't.  I actually look forward to these two hours, it's two hours I get to sit with my feet up, relax, and do nothing.

7.  When I was food shopping this week I got some pineapple juice.  So Good!

8.  A new season of "My Boys" started this past Sunday.  If you haven't seen it, it's a TBS show about a female sports writer that has a bunch of guy friends.  I like it, and am happy to see it back for another season.

9.  I got another Mystic Tan this week.  I don't care what "Mr.  Number 5"  says, I love my mystic!

10.  WHY?... because everyone's idea of perfection is different, the tough thing is being YOUR own perfection and not conforming to anyone elses

Tuesday, July 20

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Thursday was another 12 hour work day, but I felt pretty good about it.  I got a lot of work done, and because I kept myself busy the day went by relatively quick.

2.  I finally got around to grocery shopping (aka I picked up groceries at target).  I know this doesn't sound like anything special to other people, but I have been meaning to go food shopping for a while.  It's great to finally have food in the house.

3.  While at target I finally broke down and got "How I Met Your Mother" season one on DVD.  I have been waiting for it to go on sale, but I was sick of waiting!

4.  We had some crazy storms here in Boston.  Normally when we have storms here, the clouds cover my city view, but this storm there wasn't as many clouds.  It looked so cool to see the city with all the thunder and lighting around it.

5.  Every summer my television guilty pleasure is "Big Brother".  For those of you that have never seen it, it is an awful CBS reality show, but I found several people that watch it.  I'm happy to say it's back for the summer.

6.  Item I can't live without:  Sharpie Ultra Fine Point markers.  Great colors.  Endless uses.

7.  I love when I get a chance to catch up with friends that I haven't seen in a long time.  I got a chance to catch up with my friends Erik and Holly when I went over to their place to pick up my mail.

8.  The other night when I got out of work early I decided to take a walk around my neighborhood.  I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place.

9.  I know this is suppose to be a "Fitness Friday" thing, but I went to the gym yesterday.  This is big news because I haven't gone to the gym in about a month.  I've really been trying hard to get to the gym (especially since I totally pigged out while I was on vacation).

10.  When an old school song comes on my ipod (I always play it on shuffle) it always excites me.  One of the many exciting old school songs I heard this week was "The Sign" by Ace of Base.

Tuesday, July 13

Sorry Readers

This week's "Ten on Tuesday" I tried the spell check.. I didn't realized the words stayed highlighted!  Sorry readers!  I promise I will not do it again!

Ten on Tuesday

1.  One thing I always, ALWAYS look forward to is getting my hair done.  I budget my hair by bring my lunch everyday, just so that I can get my hair done as much as I *need* too.  I got my hair done this past Wednesday (it was the first thing I did on my vacation), and it was one of the greatest hair experiences!  I got a great new cut, and awesome color!

2.  One of the greatest things about getting my hair done is getting a chance to catch up with Lauren, my hair dresser.  She is a friend of a friend, and through our hours of conversation I get to hear all about what's going on with her, and what's been happening with me.

3.  On my drive down to the Jersey shore, I tuned into my favorite radio station Z100 as soon as I could.  I was lucky enough that as soon as I tuned in it was the beginning of 100 minutes of commercial free music.  Thank you Z100, you did not disappoint!

4.  There is something phenomenal about the simple act of floating around in a pool on a raft.  I recommend it.

5.  One thing I found in Nikki's fridge was "Mike's Hard Mango Punch".  It is a perfect summer drink, you should all try it!

6.  The "pool group" of vacation got hungry one night and decided to get some KFC.  So myself, Kristen, and Nikki all headed out to KFC for some yummy eats.  We were to late to go in to order, so we had to go through the drive thru (the man working the drive thru wasn't very happy that we order the huge 20 piece meal, 30 mins before he was set to close).  Then when the giant 20 piece meal arrived, we got a full realization of how large it was... it was so large that it didn't fit through Kristen's car window!  It was so funny, we all laughed so hard trying to get our food through the window!

7.  Dear Sonic,  Thanks for being open 24 hours.  Ashley Kempson's need for drunk milkshake and tator tots appreciates it.

8.  The big event of vacation was Nikki & Anthony's engagement party.  It was tons of fun, and it was so great to have a great reason to celebrate and catch up with old friends.

9.  As of Tuesday night I was on vacation, so I met up with a few people at Chili's for drinks.  Just before they arrived a woman with the world's most intense boob job I've ever seen walked in.  They were crazy huge, and super hard.  There wasn't a person in the restaurant that wasn't looking...wow.

10.  One of the things we did while at the Jersey shore was visit the boardwalk.  The one thing I requested of my friends before we left the boardwalk was to play a little skee ball.  It was great!  I only played 4 or 5 games, but they were great games!  On one of the games I scored 450,000!

Monday, July 5

Ten on Tuesday

1.  After a rough couple of days at work, I was very happy to get a chance to get together with my friend Sarah.  We both vented about our lives and shared lots of laughs over a few pitchers of margaritas.

2.  The margaritas we had screamed "It's Summer!".  They were delicious, especially while sitting outside.

3.  Looking back at the 4th of July, I continue to be so grateful to live in this country where I have the freedom to say what I want to say, wear what I want to wear, and be an independent woman.  Thanks America!

4.  I needed to prepare my skin for vacation, and unfortunately everyday that I seem to have a day off, it was one of the few cloudy and/or rainy days.  So I've been looking very pale, so I got a mystic tan.  If you haven't gotten one before, GO!  I'm a big fan.

5.  I haven't played mini golf in a really long time (honestly, I can't even remember the last time), which is why I didn't have high hopes for my mini gold skills when I went this week.  But, I'm proud to say I scored only one over par.

6.  I had my first hookah experience this week.  I was a little nervous because I always thought hooka was really strong, but actually it's really light.  I also learned that hookah comes in a lot of great flavors.

7.  I found a bunch of my old CD's that I hadn't put onto my itunes yet.  So I added them and put them onto my ipod, along with a few new playlists to enjoy while I drive down to the Jersey shore.

8.  Vacation is right around the corner!

9.  And to get ready for that vacation, I got a pedicure today.  It really was not a "I want a pedicure", it was a "I have to have a pedicure" type of thing.  I've been on my feet so much with the crazy hours I've been working that my feet are looking gross, but now they are feeling back to normal.

10.  I discovered that I can see the Boston fireworks from the park that is a block away from my apartment.  How lucky am I?

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Boys making playlists for girls is the modern day "mix tape" and I like it.

2.  I've lived in Boston for years now, but I still enjoy a casual summer drive around the city.

3.  The HBO night I've been waiting for has finally arrived!  True Blood, Hung, and Entourage!

4.  I've decided I feel bad for guys that can't order kick ass cocktails because they look too girlish.

5.  In the July issue of self magazine there is a page with suggestions on nail polish colors based on your astrological sign.  Turns out the color for my sign (Scorpio) I already had, but hadn't used yet.  I used the deep purple color, and have been getting tons of compliments on the color.

6.  There are a lot of people who say "I could make a meal out of bread", well I actually do.  I got dinner rolls when I went food shopping this week, they made a great dinner.

7.  8 days till I'm on vacation and I get some much needed time off to spend with some of my favorite people.

8.  My big treat that I bought for myself this week was Twisted Tea.  So good!

9.  I got the movie "New York, I Love You" in from netflix this week.  The only reason I put it on my rental list was because Bradley Cooper is in it, but overall it was a pretty good movie.  Which says a lot since there hasn't been many good movies out lately.

10.  Suggestion:  Wear neon underwear around a black light.  It's amusing to say the least.

Fitness Friday

I had a great workout earlier this week.  Not only did I jog two miles on the treadmill, I also did several different kinds of strength training.  I could tell it was a good workout because I could feel it the next day.
Now that I seem to have the "once a week" down, this week I'm going to try to shoot for two or three trips to the gym.  I would like to commit to trying three, but my schedule is pretty crazy this week, I only have one day off,  but depending on what else comes up throughout the week I might be able to do it!
One bummer to working out more often is that whenever I first start getting into working out, I always seem to get a brake out on my forehead, and mix the work outs with all the crazy heat we've been having, it's no pretty.  I can cover it with make up, but still...ick!  Does anyone else seem to run into this problem?  If so do you have any tricks for keeping your skin calm against the sweat?

Tuesday, June 22

Ten on Tuesday

1.  I went to the movies with my brother Mike, Stacey, and my nephew Owen.  We went to see Toy Story 3, if you haven't seen it yet, go see it, it was great.

2.  As Owen and Ben were leaving "Grammy & PeePaw's" house they were hugging me goodbye.  Benny hugged me, gave me a little kiss, and then in his cute little 2 year old voice, said "love you"... he's gonna be a heart breaker.

3.  JD... Thank You.  (If you don't know what this means, you don't deserve to know.)

4.  I had an Ashley Kempson sighting while in Sparta.  It was great to have a quick catch up session with her (since we used to talk everyday, I feel like we had so much to catch up on).

5.  I'm sad to see my friend Christen move away, but we had a great time wishing her well on Friday night.

6.  After a very long drive back to MA, when I came home I found a new Self magazine in my mailbox.  It was a great thing to come home to after such a long drive.

7.  "The Real Housewives of NJ" is a great show.  You all should watch it.

8.  I have been in need of some new bras, but as all women know you never buy anything full price at Victoria's Secret.  I was happy to see that their semi annual sale started, and was happy to get some new things at a good deal.

9.  The countdown is on... Vacation in two weeks!

10.  I was craving pizza, but take out pizza costs more then frozen.  When I was at Target (where else would I be shopping?) I went to pick up some pizza, and they were having a special buy 2 pizzas, get a free bottle of diet coke.

Fitness Friday

This is going to be quick because (a) I'm drying to type while waiting for my nails to dry, and (b) I need to get ready to go out.
Good news and bad news on the fitness front.
Bad:  I only went to the gym once this week.  But with the crazy schedule I've had, I'm pretty proud.
Good:  I finally had that "yeah, I feel great" post workout feeling.  Whenever I start feeling like this is motivates me to workout more often.

Also, I ran into a guy a dated for a while at the gym.  Thank goodness it was as I was walking into the gym and before I changed into my gym clothes.

Wednesday, June 16

Ten on Tuesday... Well, Wednesday

1.  On Tuesday last week, I went out on a date.  In the end it looks like he's "just not that into me".  But that's alright, I'll take a night out with a guy whenever I can.

2.  I had a chance to catch up with several of the people I used to work with at the Burlington Lucky Brand.  It's always nice to see people you haven't seen in a while.

3.  Sometimes I think we all have those work days that are really good, they make the not so good works days worth it.  Well, I had one of those great work days last week.  I've been bouncing between two stores, and I managed both stores payrolls, had awesome customer interactions, and sent some motivating emails to my staff to get them ready for a big weekend.

4.  Everyone that knows me knows, I almost never use vacation time.  Well, I put in for vacation time this week, and I'm excited to say it was approved.  I'm excited for July when I'm going to head to Jersey to spend some time with the soon to be bride.

5.  Cure for a bad day.... Chocolate cupcake.

6.  I had a nice afternoon catching up with my friend Kyle over a pitcher of sangria.

7.  I went to go see "Get Him Into The Greek".  It was hilarious!  If you haven't seen it yet, go see it!  It was great!

8.  I don't have those go out all night drinking nights as often as I used too.  But this week, I had a great night out with a few of my guy friends.  We ended up staying out drinking, and then went to the diner, and then I got home... at 4am

9.  Back in high school, Belgium waffles were my choice late night diner snack.  I'm happy to report that they still hit the spot in the late night hours.

10.  The new season of True Blood started on Sunday.  I'm happy to see all my favorite HBO shows starting back up.

Friday, June 11

Fitness Friday

Die hard "Beantown Babe" readers will recall a pair of jeans that barely fit, and my goal was to get them to fit.  Well, here they are!  (Please excuse the odd looking photo, I was in a rush to get out the door so I took this photo with my computer camera, and I had to make the crazy pose so you could see my whole outfit.)  Now, I know it sounds totally unfair but (as readers know) I haven't really been working out.  The only reason I fit into these jeans is because when I was sick I couldn't eat for several days, and then when I started to eat it was only small amounts.
But the new goal, since I now am in these jeans is to be able to stay this size.
Meeting this goal isn't going to be easy.  In typical Sue fashion, when I dived back into work I dived deep.  I basically running two stores right now, and trying to split my time between the two.  On top of work I've got all my follow up doctors appointments this week, and I'm traveling to New Jersey for the annual family gathering.  But hopefully I can make it to the gym at least one day this week, maybe Sunday or Thursday.  We'll see how it goes!

Monday, June 7

Ten on Tuesday (Again, on Monday...Get Over It!)

*First please note, that (like always) this list is in no order what so ever.*

1.  I spent my at home recovery time catching up on lots of on demand television.  The free on demand movie I was the most excited to see was "The Hannah Montana Movie".  I never get sick of watching silly little movies, including this one.

2.  On Wednesday my father arrived to the hospital, he came directly from the airport, on business.  I've never been so happy to get on the computer, and most importantly get on facebook.  We are all a little addicted to facebook, but when you're spending several days in the hospital, facebook is like a ticket to "what's happening" in the outside world.

3.  I arrived home from the hospital to find the new July issue of Martha Stewart Living in my mailbox.  It was a great treat to come home too.

4.  My sister in law, Stacey posted a video of my nephew Owen golfing.  It is so darn cute!  I've already watched it several times.

5.  Since I was looking for something to do to help me pass time while recovering at home, I decided to do a little "research".  I know so many people getting married, and they all seem to be asking me my advice on planning (it must be the Martha factor).  I looked up all sorts of DIY wedding things, and already started planning for Dani's shower.  But all that's a surprise! Shhh!

6.  I've been meaning to clean up my apartment for weeks.  Problem is all I ever seem to have time to do is clean little bits here and there.  But once again, due to my boring recovery time my apartment is nice and clean.

7.  I have found one pro to bring in the hospital:  nail polish doesn't chip easily.  I am notorious for two things when it comes to nail polish:  (1) I like having nicely polished nails and (2) my nails ALWAYS seems to be chipping.  But I polished my nails on Monday last week, went into the hospital on Tuesday, and yesterday I did a mere touch up.  Amazing!

8.  I don't care what anyone says, I've watched "Jon & Kate plus Eight" since the start, so I was very excited to watch the "Kate plus Eight" premiere on Sunday night.

9.  A few weeks back my store won a "Fill the Fridge" contest, we had the best email capture results in the district.  The prize was $100 for food for the store.  Since I personally try to only buy food I need, I almost never buy junk food, and I try to keep myself on a tight food budget.  It was so much fun to go food shopping and buy all these snack foods (no worries I got healthy snacks too).  By the way, $100 buys A TON of food!

10.  Most important:  Although I never wish for anyone to go into the hospital, there is one great thing that comes out of being in the hospital.  It makes you understand just how many people care about you.  Friends drop everything to check in with you, family members arrive to be at your bed side (even when you insist they don't have to bother), it's a tough way to realize how much people care, but the important thing is, lots of people out there care.

Fitness Friday

After spending most of the past week in the hospital, clearly I didn't go to the gym very much.  But I'm happy to report to you all, that I did make it to the gym once over the past week.
For the one gym trip I did make, it was kinda a "mailed in" visit.  I spent a decent amount of time of the treadmill, I jogged for a little over 2 miles.  But surprisingly the thing I flaked out on was strength training.  Strength training is normally my favorite part of any workout.  But for this workout, I had just come from a full day at work and I was pretty tired, and hungry, so I wanted to get out of the gym as quick as possible.
I'll be honest, I have no promises for any big workouts for the up coming week due to recovery from my recent hospital visit.

Monday, May 31

Ten on Tuesday (Ok, so it's Monday night...Whatever!)

1.  This may sound like a little thing to many people, but that's the whole point of "ten on tuesday".  When I was off from work I had to go around running errands, one of which was to stop by the honda dealership and sign the title for my car.  The guy that helped me there throughout the whole lease to buy deal was nice to me the whole time.  On this day I was sitting in his office waiting for him to finish with another customer, and when he walked in the first thing he said was, "ok, first of all, who said you could come into my office looking so smoking hot?".  He went on to mention how good I looked that day several times.  I was wearing white pants and a polo, nothing crazy, but it's nice to hear that someone noticed the little bit of extra effort I put into looking nice.
2.  As mentioned in "fitness friday", I made some low calorie pre packaged snacks.  It makes me feel like I've "got my s*** together" when I do little things like this.
3.  Anyone that knows me, knows that one of my favorite simple foods on the planet is a good sandwich.  Well this week I decided to treat myself and make myself a really good sandwich.  I got a great sub roll, my favorite "made in house" roast beef, prosciutto, two different kinds of cheese, roasted red peppers, fresh tomato, pickles, and mayo.  MMM!
4.  On my day off when I was just hanging out at home, I got a surprise FB message from the last person on the planet I ever thought would be online.... Joshua!  Yes, Dani's Joshua!  It was nice to finally get a chance to talk to him a little bit, and I felt to special that in his very short amount of "back home connection time" he messaged me.
5.  As I'm sure you all know, Sex and the City 2 was released in theaters this past week.  To help myself prepare for the new movie I spend my free time over the past few weeks re-watching the entire series and the first movie.  I always like getting to see some of those old episodes, they are so great!
6.  I've always been a big fan of martini's, before I was legally allowed to drink, I liked drinking martinis.  I haven't had a martini in a long time, but this week I had a few "Asian Pear Martinis" at the Cheesecake Factory.  Although I haven't had a martini in a while, they are still as great as ever.
7.  If you ever want to know something you can do to make yourself feel great all day, the answer is:  wear cute shoes!  When I went to the movies to see Sex and the City 2, I wore my red glittered boots from the Patricia Fields store... they made me feel great!  The day I was off running errands and was "smoking hot" at the honda dealership, I was wearing my favorite white flip flop heels... they made me feel great!  And today, I wore my Prada loafers to work... they made me feel great!  So the moral to this story is, once in a while take a moment pick out a cute outfit, and be sure to wear some cute shoes with it, you'll feel great!
8.  I keep hearing all these people reference the movie "The Notebook", since I hadn't seen it I decided to netflix it.  Although overall I'm disappointed in the movie (it's pretty much exactly what I thought, a predicable chick flick) I was happy to see that Kevin Connolly (my favorite Hollywood man) was in the movie.
9.  When I was on my way home from the movies the other night I had to switch subway lines at the Government Center stop.  There was two cute guys walking in front of me, and when they turned to walk up the stairs to the street, the one guy turned, and when he looked at me said, "Hey there, how ya doing?".  Again this might sound like a stupid little thing, but this little hello made my whole night much better.
10.  I know I shouldn't be this excited about something on facebook, but this week Nikki and Anthony's engagement photos went up on facebook!  It was great being able to see them, and to see all the neat photoshop effects Dani did to the photos.  They all look so great, I have no idea how they are going to pick their favorites!

"Fitness" Friday

So the whole idea of sharing my weekly workouts on this blog was to help motivate me to actually workout.  So far, it isn't working as well as I had thought it would.  I wasn't able to make it to the gym at all this week.
I am happy to say I have grown to have much better eating habits then I did before.  The June issue of Self magazine and a page with all different suggestions on low calorie snack ideas.  Yesterday I put several of them together so that they would be "pre-packaged" and ready to grab as I run out the door (see photo of golden grahams and marshmallow 100 calorie packs).  Also in an effort to both eat healthy (and save money) I haven't been eating out much at all.  No pizza orders, no fast food, I've even been making my coffee at home.
Work has been eating up a lot of my time lately, but if all goes well and I get out at a okay time I plan to go to the gym tomorrow.  We'll see how it goes!

New Sunglasses

By the request of my followers, here are my fabulous new Chanel sunglasses...

I picked these ones because brown sunglasses always look great on me, but I didn't want to get another pair of tortoise frames (I already have two).  I liked that these were brown but yet, the pattern of the thin swirled brown lines gives them a modern look.  Also the Chanel "c's" on the side aren't too "in your face" large, like the mother of pearl frames (the mother of pearl ones have been selling a lot, according to the sales woman, "Tiger Woods' wife has them", she told me.  Yeah, I picked the ones that Tiger Woods wife doesn't have, she isn't exactly a fashion icon, besides why would I want the same sunglasses that everyone else has?!?!?

Tuesday, May 25

Ten on Tuesday

1.  This past weekend was inventory at work.  It was the first inventory I lead, and it went really well!

2.  On Friday night I was very happy to meet my dear friend Casey out for a drink after work.  I haven't seen her in over a month, it was great to see her and catch up.

3.  Since I only had to work in the morning on Thursday, I spend the rest of the day walking around Boston running errands.  I never get sick of walking around this beautiful city.

4.  On Friday, Boston was lucky enough to be graced with fantastic weather.  Since I didn't have to leave for work until 1:00 I decided to have a little picnic at Pier Park.  Pier Park is a park near my house, I love going there.  It was great to have a relaxing morning with a sandwich and a magazine.

5.  When you live in a city you get used to the noise.  But one thing I always notice and am amazed by is when the city is completely silent.  There's something outstanding about looking out at a city skyscape and hearing nothing.

6.  I treated myself to a pair of black linen pants (from lucky of course).  I haven't found an article of clothing that I liked this much in a long time.  They are so comfy, but they look so cute at the same time!

7.  It's been several months since I got my gift card for Saks, and I finally used it for a new pair of Chanel sunglasses.  I have had a pair of sunglasses for several years, and the frames have become really bent over time.  Turns out they got so bent that they are beyond repair, so now they will be my beach sunglasses.  But, lesson learned your sunglasses should be tightened once a month.

8. Apparently the rest of the country was excited about the finale of Lost, I could care less.  Grey's Anatomy on the other hand, WOW.  Anyone that watches the show will tell you that it isn't as good as it used to be, but this year's season finale was amazing.  It was even more fun because I was text messaging my dear friend Nikki during every commercial break.

9.  I've started researching my next vacation.  Just researching what to do, and where to go is making me so excited!  I haven't gone on a real vacation since 2007, so I'm big time in need of a vacation!

10.  I can't think of a number 10 this week!  I have great friends, how's that for a 10!

Friday, May 21

Fitness Friday

Well, I went to the gym on Monday and made it a little over 3 miles on the treadmill and did a little lifting (not as much lifting as I would have liked).  I was going to go to the gym on either Wednesday or Thursday as my second day, but on Wednesday I just flat out didn't feel like it (bad, I know) and Thursday was a beyond nice day weather wise, so I figured I would go for a long walk around Boston.  It served double duty, I certainly walked over 3 miles (although I have no idea really how far I walked) and I was able to get several errands done along the way.  Anyone that has been to Boston to visit me, and/or come out for a "little walk" with me around town can tell you, there is no such thing as a short walk with me, I always end up loosing all track of distance, I can walk around Boston for hours and not even realize how far/long I've been walking.  Although I must say yesterday it was difficult to walk through the commons and not give in to any of the vendors.  The lemonade, street meat, and fried dough were all out yesterday, but I'm proud to say I walked right by (even though I had to put my head down and try not to even look at the fried dough vendor).

Tuesday, May 18

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Sometimes we all (I hope) have those days, or moments that we feel like (excuse my french) we feel like we have our shit together.  For me, I had one of those days on Friday.  I went to the fastlane office to deal with a few violations (of course I have ezpass/fastlane but for some reason the toll booth misses it sometimes), and I paid all my bills.  I also went through ALL my mail (there's a lot) and opened and organized it.
2.  Yesterday I also had a "feeling with it" day.  I spend zero dollars!  I've been trying to save money, but everyday something always seems to turn up; need gas, pay bills, food, coffee, groceries.  But yesterday, I had my morning coffee in my new travel mug (see number 3), I packed a healthy (and cheap) lunch, and cooked chicken tacos for dinner.
3.  When Dani was up visiting during Marine Week, she purchased a cold beverage travel cup from starbucks.  It looks just like an iced venti starbucks cup, it even has a re-useable straw!  Several of my friends from college have it as well and love it.  I went and purchased myself one so I could use it (with the help of my keurig) to make iced coffee, on the go.
4.  One of my favorite healthy snacks is "blue diamond smokehouse almonds".  They are great because they fit that salty snack fix but are more filling then other salty snacks.  I like to mix them with a some M&M's for a great salty/sweet snack mix.
5.  Over the past week I've been watching the first four seasons of "Entourage" (and I'm working on season 5 right now.  It's one of my favorite shows, since there hasn't been anything good on tv lately (and I hate commercials) it's been nice to have something to want to come home and watch.
6.  For the past several weeks I've been listening to a CD that my dear friend Ashley made for me.  She's such a big music person that I shouldn't be surprised, but it pumps me up every morning, it's great.
7.  I've had a chance to talk to several of my friends over the past week, most of which I haven't talked to or seen in a while, I've got the greatest friends, it's always great hearing from them.
8.  Thanks to my amazing friends this blog now has two followers!  YAY!
9.  Recommendation:  Cook yourself an awesome breakfast at least once a week or so, it makes the whole day seem great.
10.  Eat some hershey kisses, you'll be happy!

Friday, May 14

Fitness (or lack of fitness) Friday

I'm sorry to report that I didn't go to the gym at all over the past week.  I had been planning to go a few different days, but realized after running out of the house that I had forgotten to pack and take my gym bag.  I haven't worked out in over a month now, so it's hard to get back in the routine.  But this week is going to be different, this week I WILL make it to the gym AT LEAST two times.

As for the 5K, we tried to jog/walk it at the beginning but that didn't last long.  It was pouring rain, literally down pouring during the entire race.  Since we were not prepared for such a crazy storm we ended up walking almost the whole thing, but we finished, it took us 50 minutes.

Tuesday, May 11

Ten onTuesday

1.  I've been feeling under the weather the past few weeks, several people told me I should take a sick day.  Although I wasn't feeling good, that one day of relaxing helped me out so much, it was great!

2.  On Thursday night I went on a date with a guy I met online.  I'm still no big on the whole online dating thing, but I figured I'd give it a whirl.  Although the date itself wasn't very good, it was still nice to have a night out.

3.  The weekend was filled with all sorts of fun.  Dani came up to visit for Marine Week, in just one day we went to copley, newbury st, Charlestown, spent some time around the garden, and faneuil hall!  We took some great pictures and in typical Dani & Sue fashion, we ate lots of sweets!

4.  On Friday night once Dani was in town we went out for the night, and met up with one of her Marine wife friends.  The first bar we went to wasn't too "hopping", so we left, and as we were walking down the sidewalk we ran into a few of the guys I went to college with, we followed them out and had a great night of drinking & dancing.

5.  I've been waiting for the dvd of "Julie & Julia" to go down in price (I hate paying $20, when I know it's going to go down), and finally when I was at Target (where else?!?!) I found it for $12.

6.  I'm a big believer in that old thought that "you learn something new everyday", one of the things I learned this week is that 50 million cells in your body die every minute, and since all your organs/your entire body is made up purely of cells, that means your organs also die and become new... your liver is new every six weeks.

7.  Not including the date I went on, I was asked out my two guys this week (they were both totally gross) but it's better then not being asked out at all.

8.  Thank you Victoria's Secret.  Thanks to your "free panty" coupon I was still able to shop while also trying to save money.

9.  I've lived in Boston, or the surrounding area for almost 7 years now, I still get amazed by its beauty.  There isn't a day that goes by that I don't have a "WOW" moment regarding this place I'm proud to call home.

10.  One of the movies I watched on my sick day was "Step Brothers", the next day at work one phrase kept floating around my head, "F***ing Catalina Wine Mixer" (if you've seen that movie they say it a million times, it's really funny).  Having that silly quote floating around my head all day, kept me smiling all day long.

Friday, May 7

Fitness Friday

A huge reason I decided to start this blog was to give me a place to share the workouts I've done over the past week, and share what workout goals I have for the next week.  I have a goal to workout on a regular basis, and hopefully sharing my workouts with all of you I will be able to meet this goal.  I haven't worked out in about two and half to three weeks, but tomorrow I will be in a 5K race!  For the following week, I also want to go to the gym at least three times.

I have an additional goal for working out at well... I just got a pair of size 4 jeans!  I'm normally a 6 or 8, thanks to the working out I have done, I fit into the size 4's, but I kinda have a muffin top.  Goal:  get rid of the size 4 muffin top!

Tuesday, May 4

Ten on Tuesday

1.  Over the past week I've visited Target almost everyday.  Since there is a Target right next door to where I work, it has become my "kill time" place, and also a convenient place to run errands before I go into work (which is good since I haven't had a lot of time after work).  One morning while waiting for the pharmacy to open I decided to challenge myself to find something for a few of my friends that I visited over the weekend, but each items had to be significantly under a dollar (meaning .99 doesn't count).  I got scrapbook stickers, asprin, and chewy sweet tarts.
2.  Without question one of my favorite hobbies is baking.  But I haven't baked anything since christmas time.  Mostly because I like baking for other people, and since I don't work with men that eat (and eat a lot) anymore I haven't had requests to make anything.  But to celebrate a few of my closest friend's birthday's they requested I make cream cheese swirled brownies.  It was great to be baking again!
3.  Without question the most exciting event of this past week was have the chance to spend the weekend with three of my six pack girls at the Jersey shore.  It shows that we are true friends, because we always have a blast together, even when we're just hanging out.
4.  I learned some new dance steps over the weekend.  Thanks to my dear friends I'm now ready to do the cupid shuffle for all the weddings I will be attending in the upcoming months.
5.  Just yesterday (while at my "place of the week", Target) I finally found a 2010-2011 calender!  It's a perfect pocket size so I can carry it in my purse, and since it goes till the end of 2011, I can write in my six pack girl's weddings... the dates are saved!
6.  It's hard to believe but I used to only get my hair done twice a year.  As part of my plan to "do it all" I've been going every 6-8 weeks and I've been working on a "hair project", which thanks to my phenomenal hair stylist, Lauren is just about complete.  I've been getting lighter, and lighter highlights each time I go, so that now my hair looks like it has every color in, like a very dirty blond.  I went on Friday, and every time I have an appointment it's one of the highlights (haha, "highlights", get it) of my week.
7.  On of my goals on the quest to perfection is to spend less money (which I know is a goal of just about everyone I know).  I have been trying for months (with very little success) to NOT buy coffee.  But I'm not a huge fan hot coffee, and most importantly I hated cleaning a whole coffee maker just for one cup.  Which is why I'm loving my new Keurig coffee maker.  I've been using it everyday, and the one I got even has an "iced beverage" function!
8.  I would like to thank the people responsible for inventing pizza.  I had pizza four times last week, if it was up to me I would would eat pizza everyday.  It's in my genes, everyone in my family LOVES pizza, in fact we used to have pizza for Christmas!
9.  Once again I was complimented on my nail polish color.  "Nicole by OPI" has a color called "Wink in a Dink in Pink", it's a bright pink.  Almost every friend of mine has at one time or another painted their nails this color because the love it so much.  Just last week while at work, a customer told me she "just loved" my nail polish, she asked me the name of the color, and asked if it was Chanel!  Apprently they make a very similar color.  I told her, Chanel? no, it's from Target!
10.  Due to the super nice weather over the weekend, I got to have barbecue over the weekend.  Being a city dweller that doesn't have access to outdoor barbecuing, it makes me enjoy barbecue even more.

Begged To Blog

Since this is my first blog, I wanted to use to to explain why I started this blog.

I have an absolutely amazing group of friends, we've been friends for years, we call ourselves "the six pack".  Six girls, all originally from New Jersey.  Well since we now live all over the world we are always looking for great new ways to stay in touch with the things happening in each others lives.  One of the six packers, Dani has been asking me for a while to start a blog (she's pretty much addicted to blogging), but I didn't want to start one without a goal for the blog.

So then I was stuck wondering why could I write a blog about?  Then I realized, I'll write about myself and my quest to live as a well rounded 20 something single girl in Boston.  A few of the goals I have for this blog are to exercise (according to Self magazine, having someone to share your exercise habits and goals with, helps to build the exercise habit), I also want to use this blog to write about my little everyday joys.

With that said two of the blogs I want to write every week are "Ten on Tuesdays", a blog idea I took from my sister in law all about the happy little things that happened in the past week and "Fitness Fridays" an update on how much I've worked out in the past week, and what I plan on doing for the upcoming week.  Of course I will write other little blogs in between about different happens about life.

Enjoy reading!  And please feel free to comment!
